SAP has become the world's
largest provider of ERP certifications, with more than 25,000 individuals
worldwide certified to date. SAP Certifications is a flexible, tailored program
that is open to everyone.
The Levels of SAP Certifications
There is Currently 3 Levels of
SAP certifications: Associate, Professional and Master.
Associate
Certifications is a basic level course that can be attended by
anyone interested in SAP careers. This level develops basic SAP and ERP
knowledge and is open to SAP “newbies” and more experienced individuals.
Professional Certifications is only open to individuals with SAP
project implementation experience and understanding of ERP software. In-depth
SAP knowledge and experience are key requirements for achieving
professional-level certification.
Master's Degree Certifications is a certification that is still
under development. Candidates at the master's level must demonstrate the
expertise of SAP implementation and demonstrate a wide range of project
experience. Testing at this level is a rigorous and lengthy process, and
candidates need to demonstrate expertise through formal, practical methods.
SAP has also developed a
certification program for its Business One and Business integrated ERP
solutions, currently only available to individuals in the UK and Ireland. These
levels of certification are particularly beneficial for aspiring UK consultants
who wish to work with UK SMEs.
Does SAP certifications ensure a successful career?
SAP's plans are developed to very
high standards, and individuals are certified for demonstrating superior
knowledge and capabilities. Consultants and individuals who are professionally
certified are considered to be a very elite group and may have more valuable
and successful careers than their un-certified peers.
As with every profession, the
true success of SAP can only be achieved through direct experience and
investment in certification and qualifications. Individuals who already have
SAP implementation experience can of course improve their career prospects
through certification. SAP newcomers should be aware that having an
employee-level certification with no direct implementation or project
experience is not immediately equivalent to a successful career. For those who
wish to pursue an independent career, SAP certification may be most useful.
Investment certification can enhance their market competitiveness in a
competitive environment and improve their prospects for finding and maintaining
customers.
